With Region 14 Heart of the Blue Ridge chorus and quartet competitions just around the corner, the excitement is building!
Continuing their tradition of sharing the joy of music, the chorus is opening its doors for family, friends, and music lovers alike at their “Pep Rally” dress rehearsal. They’re on the lookout for a lively, enthusiastic audience ready to be entertained and swept up in the pre-competition excitement!
Vocal Matrix Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Kimberly Graham, is excited to announce their participation in the upcoming Region 14, Heart of the Blue Ridge competition, taking place this April in Concord, NC. The chorus has spent the past year diligently preparing both their ballad and up-tune selections, building unity and musicality through dedicated weekly rehearsals.
Celebrating a Memorable Performance at the SAI Convention in Columbus, Ohio
Vocal Matrix Chorus is thrilled to celebrate their recent opportunity to perform on the international stage during the Sweet Adelines International (SAI) convention and competition held in Columbus, Ohio this past week. The event brought together talented choruses from around the world, creating a vibrant atmosphere of musical excellence and camaraderie.
Just a few months ago, VMx members Connie, Maggie, Susan, and Kimberly joined together to form a new quartet with the goal of competing at the Sweet Adeline International Diamond Division competition in Tulsa, OK.
Mix It Up was first on stage as contestant number one, so they were able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the performances! Their weekend was brimming with music, educational opportunities, camaraderie, joy, and laughter. Welcome home!
Vocal Matrix Chorus was honored to share our barbershop harmonies at the annual meeting of the SC state board of P.E.O. International (Philanthropic Education Organization). "The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international nonprofit organization that has helped more than 125,000* women pursue educational goals by providing more than $432 million* in educational assistance, making a difference in women's lives through six philanthropies and a foundation." Thank you Artisphere for inviting VMx to entertain visitors during this amazing annual celebration of the arts in downtown Greenville SC. The festival is an annual, three-day event that provides art enthusiasts the unique opportunity to directly engage with exhibiting artists. Attendees can explore a diverse array of original artworks and have the chance to purchase pieces, making it a vibrant marketplace as well as a cultural gathering.
In addition to performing during the festival, members of Vocal Matrix Chorus and their friends and families provide hundreds of hours volunteering in various capacities, serving the Greenville community.
VMx had an exciting weekend in Concord, NC where we participated in the Region 14 Competition, performing on stage for evaluation. Why "for evaluation only (you might be asking)?. The intent was to receive some critical feedback from a phenomenal panel of experts in sound, music, expression and visual communication; this panel was also judging the regional chorus and quartet competitions that were taking place Friday and Saturday.
This valuable feedback will provide a springboard for some intensive - but always enjoyable - rehearsals over the next few months as we prepare for "Internationals". In October VMx will compete along with top choruses from around the world during the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Columbus Ohio.
Vocal Matrix Chorus was honored to perform the National Anthem at the start of the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament in Greenville, SC. We then enjoyed the exciting game between the University of South Carolina and Vanderbilt University!
"We love spreading holiday cheer while friends, families and neighbors get together to celebrate this wonderful season", commented one VMx singer.
Vocal Matrix was honored to be invited by the The Kringle Holiday Village to perform during this special fundraising event that included Christmas delicacies, a kids zone and hundreds of booths with holiday crafts all to benefit local charities and education-related programs.
