STAGE MAKEUP
The goal for stage performance (such as regional and international competition) is to maximize our features so they may be visible to the audience from a distance, and not wash us out under the bright stage lighting. We use makeup colors and techniques to enhance facial expression in our eyes, eyebrows, as well as cheeks and lips. The goal is to create a frame for our features. We use false eyelashes for this reason as well as eyeliner and specific foundation and blush to create a uniform appearance. We want to have a unit look for these performances. Specifics of Stage Makeup application will be covered in a class given throughout the year to new members, and as a refresher for other members as they request.
PERFORMANCE STREET MAKEUP
VMX participates in several smaller, more intimate performances where we are not under stage lights. This is often a small group from the chorus singing for an event somewhere such as a Christmas fair, the Veterans Salute, or a performance we have planned on a smaller scale. The makeup for these performances is more casual and involves using your own foundation base, eyeshadow, liner, blush, and chorus lipstick. We don’t need false eyelashes for these performances. There are a few guidelines for this application however, and they must be followed in order to keep us looking our best for these performances. There are designated chorus members who will help with checking makeup application prior to performances for proper application as well as to assist the performer if needed.
